In November of 2006, the Social Media Club Boston held its first event. In the five years since then, social media has evolved into what many are describing as social business. Join the Social Media Club Boston and IBM on November 8th for this exploration and celebration of the evolution of social media.
Our panel of social business leaders will explore the following themes:

2. Examples of social businesses
3. Trends in social business

PANELISTS
Alistair Rennie, General Manager, Social Business, IBM (@alistair_rennie)
Alistair Rennie oversees an extensive portfolio of collaboration software that empowers people to connect, collaborate and innovate while optimizing the way they work. Rennie also leads a cross-IBM team responsible for creating social business solutions that help clients optimize their workforce, drive operational effectiveness and deepen customer relationships. He is a member of the IBM Integration and Values team, a select group of executives who provide leadership across IBM on various business and strategic issues. Rennie is also IBM Senior State Executive for Massachusetts, providing leadership for IBM in the community statewide.
Rennie joined IBM at the Toronto Software Laboratory in 1989, and has maintained a primary focus on the introduction of new technologies throughout his career. Prior assignments include: Vice President, Development and Support, Lotus Software and WebSphere Portal, and Vice President, IBM Software Services for Lotus - a global organization consisting of highly skilled technical consultants working in more than 35 countries with clients to optimize value from the IBM collaboration portfolio. He has also held several leadership positions in IBM's marketing and strategy teams. Rennie holds degrees in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario.
Andrew Carusone, Director of Integrated Workforce Experience (IWE) and Community Governance, Lowe’s Home Improvement (@acaruson)
Andrew Carusone has 18 years of Lowe’s Companies sales floor, training, employee communications and store operations experience. Within an international retail enterprise of 270,000 employees, 1,750 locations and 786 million customer transactions per year, Andy continues to help lead an effort to embed the use of collaborative technologies into normal flows of work, support and exchange of expertise.
Ric Fulop, Partner, North Bridge Venture Partners (@EntreCapitalist)
Ric Fulop, Partner, joined North Bridge in September 2010, following fifteen years as an entrepreneur. Before entering the venture capital business, Ric founded six technology companies in diverse industries. Most recently, in 2001, he co-founded A123 Systems [NASDAQ:AONE], a North Bridge investment, to commercialize technology developed at the Material Sciences and Engineering Department of MIT. From the company’s inception, he was in charge of all marketing and business development activities. Eight years later the company had 1,800 employees, production facilities around the world and more than $100 million in revenue.
Ric’s entrepreneurial experience spans energy storage, software, semi-conductors and wireless communications. He has an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he was a Sloan Fellow.
